My favourite pics

My shy little girl had just survived a very sociable birthday party – and I was super proud!

You know, there are some photos that just fill you with joy every time you look at them, aren’t there?

Here are a few of mine…

The panda and the priest

I love this one of us.

I’d taken one look at his outfit and considered mine and said,

“I need a photo: you’re posing – now.”

Instagirls, eat your heart out

I’m fond of this one, as it was one of my first attempts at staging a photo for Instagram.

I wanted to do the minimal-yet-pretty desk thing and I was chuffed with myself for this sweet try!

It’s okay Barbie: there’s always tomorrow

This one makes me giggle, as it was only after I’d edited the lovely shot of our shy girl Muffin, that I noticed that Barbie was having some sort of minor breakdown in her craft room.

I so enjoyed all the, “Know how she feels!” and “Mixed media fail?” comments it got.

Felicity Jane days are happy days!

This one is such pretty colours and the embellishments were from my favourite Felicity Jane kit of all time (I think!) Brie.

My times on the Felicity Jane team were among my happiest.

We’re not entirely sure we trust you yet, human…

I couldn’t not include this one: Muffin is on the left (look at her eyes: she hated me even then!) and my girl is the crazy little scrap on the right, Mittens.

You won’t believe it, but I didn’t stage this one: Kitty had matched all her pen colours to these pretty pots…

And that, my friends, is my girl.

Very proud of me!

And finally, I couldn’t forget a picture of one of my scraptherapy books, created with my own designs.

I’m really proud of myself, as in a lot of ways, all this putting myself out there really isn’t me.

But yeah: go me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh my, such lovely photos (eye-candy galore)! The first shot of you and Kitty is amazing and just gotta love the shot of the wee kitties. My love of all things feline is right up there with my love of crafting/art/journaling. I’ve been known to spend a fair amount of time watching kitten-cams on Youtube ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Oh, you and my husband both, Tina! He’s always coming over with the i-pad saying, “Look at this…” I used to expect something deep and meaningful, but now know it’ll be something cute and fluffy!

  3. Oh just perfect! that squishy, smiley, kissy, Mama/baby picture. I have one similar with each of my boys! One when Scotty was maybe 15 or 16 months old – I’m kissing him on the cheek and he’s looking up at the sky, with his eyes closed, with a huge smile! Might be my all time favorite photo.
Then I have one of Will and I just from a couple years ago. (he just turned 18) We’re hugging, outside, in the garden, he’s looking directly at the camera and I’m happy, smiling, laughing, head back, looking at the sky. There’s nothing like the bond between Mama and her babies!
I love Barbie face-planting too! LOL
Would you consider doing a process video on how to make those lovely butterflies in the last photo?
As always, thank you for sharing!

  4. Oh, I can just picture those two photos now! The kids sort of have that mixture of “Get off me, mum!” and “Don’t stop, I love this”, don’t they?

I love that your 18 year old lets you hug him still… how very precious. I suspect there’s nothing quite like a mama-son bond… I’ve observed it in other friends and it looks very special indeed. xxx
ps The butterflies are dead easy: just pop ‘butterfly template’ into google, then print out and trace. For this one, I actually traced directly from a Heidi Swapp stencil, so it was super quick ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

  5. Aw, thank you Bea!

I did struggle quite a bit as a new mum when Kitty was small… I didn’t have a clue what I was doing and spent a lot of time feeling quite afraid for her – those little people seem so vulnerable!

I prefer the stage she’s at now by far, but sadly I no longer get all the lovely cuddles! She saves those for her Dad ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. You can sew them or just use a staple. My butterflies are all the same size… it’s just a case of picking a few nice papers and adding in a few cut from vellum or some other nice texture ๐Ÿ™‚ Have fun! xx

I love the first photo Kitty is adorable. Your photos always look crisp, clean & bright. I love candid shots but have started playing around with some staging. You inspire me Miss Suse to try things out of my comfort zone.

  8. Oh good! Yes, staging photos can actually be really fun and very creative… I guess it’s only what magazines do to such good effect, isn’t it?

I even enjoy posing for staged photos now too, although at first that felt very fake and a little devious… did my hair actually look like this when I first got out of bed? *coughs* Of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰
