So today I made a decision that I’ve been chewing over for a few weeks: I’m going to start popping the odd photo on Instagram again.
Here’s what brought me to this decision and how I’m going to try to make it work for easily addicted ol’ me…

I plan to use my Instagram account as a shopfront for my little kits… any socialising and real life stuff will very much still be happening over here.
I won’t be following anyone and I won’t be replying to comments – party pooper, I know! – but I’m far more comfortable chatting here.
And I’ll largely be trying to ignore any numbers, remembering that that’s not where I find my sense of self-worth.

But I’m so enjoying this little kit design project of mine – not to mention managing to pop a nice cheque to World Vision each month – so it seems a shame to keep it quiet.
So I’m pulling back the curtains of my feed over there and hoovering up the resulting dust…
Here’s to a heartfelt attempt at non-addictive use of social media! Wish me luck.
Lol! That’s brilliant 🙂 xx

I don’t think the people at Instagram know the first thing about how Instagram algorithms work!!

Sometimes! Or they’d bring up stories about me from when I was little that I just don’t remember cause I was so young. It’s kind of interesting hearing your history in that way.

I hope so! I don’t actually know the first thing about Instagram or how it works, but hey, got to give these things a shot.
I’m actually wondering now whether I got addicted to social media in the first place because I had too much time on my hands… now I’m doing these kits on top of everything else, I’ve just not got the margin to socialise online much! xx

Ah, you’re so sweet Laura! But there’s no need to worry. I am trying to spread the word of my kits and may need to play the Instagram algorithms game to get my posts seen (I guessed that might not happen if my account wasn’t following anyone at all).
So purely a strategic move on my part! 😉

I worry about you, Suse.
Here you say you won’t be following anyone yet you are already following 30 accounts.
I miss you dearly so was so happy to see you back on IG… but not if it’s not good for you, not if it’s the start of a downward hill.

Oh, that’s so funny! They remind you of things you’d even forgotten? xx

I think so too! And age is completely relative really. My mother’s got girlfriends who I love chatting too that they’ve really become my friends too. Only thing is that they’ve seen me completely grow up and I often forget that part! XD

I do wish we were real life friends, Tiffany! I think, despite the age gap, we’d get on so well. xxx

I think it’s a great idea! I was just bragging to my husband about your kits and how all the money is being donated. (He knows you as “the lady who lives on an island, off the coast of England”. I think it’s funny.) So I think more kit exposure might be a great thing, as long as it makes you happy!
