Button necklace

My favourite little necklace that I wear every single day, is a super-simple button and bead make that I just adore!

Here’s how to make your own…

Find some beads and buttons in your colours.

My beads were from eBay and the buttons were from Poundland.

You’ll also need some beading elastic. I got mine from eBay, but I think you can get it in Hobbycraft too.

With your first button, go down and then up through the holes.

With button two, you go up and then down.

Three is down and then up again…

… and four is up and then down.

As you alternate the threading direction, the buttons start to lay on top of each other.

Keep going with buttons and beads until you have the look you’re going for and the necklace is the right length for your neck.

I’ve not worked out a genius trick for fastening the end, other than knot, knot and knot again! I’ve read that a dab of strong glue over the knot can help too.

Let me know if you make one of your own!
