Paper doves

DSCF9290

I was so honoured to help a group of ladies make some of the paper doves that are hanging in our town’s Cathedral to mark Remembrance Day.

We spent a wonderful afternoon by the fire in a beautiful cottage, cutting, scoring and piecing the birds together.

Each beautiful bird held the name of one of the men from our town who were lost during the war.

Such an incredibly powerful way to honour and respect those who gave their lives fighting for others!

Yes! It’s so touching to look up and see each individual name. The thing that gets me now I’m the age I am, is how young these soldiers were… I can’t help but think of the mothers who sent their boys off and didn’t see them again. xx
